Designed by Callaway’s Chief Club Designer, Roger Cleveland, the Legacy Black Irons utilize a high-strength steel face with a carbon steel body to achieve high ball speeds, while a VAR medallion in the cavity absorbs the vibration on off-center shots and delivers the soft feel Legacy irons are known for.
The slightly higher toe and heel provide a more forgiving look at address. A Tungsten sole weight in the 3-, 4- and 5-irons provides a lower CG, which delivers a higher trajectory and makes those long irons easier to hit.
The long and middle irons feature 20V grooves, proventing the ball from spinning too much and ensuring consistent distance and a stable ball flight, while 10V grooves in the short irons deliver added backspin for attacking the pin.
High-strength Steel Face • In addition to the high strength steel face, hollow construction in the sole increases the thinness throughout the face for higher ball speed even on the lower part of the face
Conventional Head Shape • Slightly higher toe and heel will make golfers feel more forgiveness as well as confidence at address
Tungsten Sole Weight in Long Irons • Tungsten sole weight for 3-, 4-, 5-irons generates lower CG and assists with higher trajectory
VAR Medallions for Soft Feel • VAR medallion inserted in the cavity increases feel and absorbs vibration on off-center hits.
Specific Groove Design in Long and Short Irons • 20V grooves on the long through middle irons - Prevents excessive spin and stabilizes ball flight for consistent distance. • 10V grooves on short irons - Produces more aggressive backspin for those pin-seeking shots.
